أكد لـ«عكاظ» رئيس النادي الأهلي الأمين العام للاتحاد السعودي لكرة القدم السابق عبدالإله مؤمنة أن استقالة رئيس الاتحاد السعودي لكرة القدم ياسر المسحل تستوجب اتباع الإجراءات النظامية المنصوص عليها في النظام الأساسي للاتحاد، مشيرًا إلى أن قبول الاستقالة يتم من خلال اجتماع الجمعية العمومية.

وأوضح مؤمنة لـ«عكاظ» أن المرحلة الانتقالية بعد الاستقالة تُدار وفق أحكام النظام الأساسي للاتحاد السعودي لكرة القدم، حيث يتم تكليف نائب رئيس الاتحاد أو الأمين العام بتسيير أعمال الاتحاد مؤقتًا، إلى حين استكمال الإجراءات النظامية.

وأضاف أن الجمعية العمومية تُوجَّه إليها الدعوة لعقد اجتماع، يتم خلاله النظر في الاستقالة، إلى جانب تحديد موعد الانتخابات القادمة وفتح باب الترشح لرئاسة مجلس إدارة الاتحاد السعودي لكرة القدم وعضويته، بما يضمن استمرارية العمل المؤسسي وفق اللوائح المعتمدة.

وكان رئيس الاتحاد السعودي لكرة القدم ياسر المسحل أعلن عدم استمراره في رئاسة الاتحاد حتى نهاية الدورة الحالية، عقب خروج المنتخب السعودي من دور المجموعات في كأس العالم 2026، مؤكدًا تحمله كامل المسؤولية عن النتيجة التي لم ترتقِ إلى تطلعات الجماهير السعودية.

وقال المسحل في بيان له: «بذلنا، أنا وزملائي أعضاء مجلس الإدارة، كل ما نستطيع لخدمة كرة القدم السعودية، وسعينا بكل إخلاص لتحقيق تطلعات وطننا وجماهيرنا، إلا أن عدم تأهل منتخبنا الوطني للدور المقبل في كأس العالم نتيجة لا ترقى إلى طموحاتنا جميعًا، وأنا أتحمل مسؤوليتها كاملة، وأعتذر لكل من كان يأمل أن يرى منتخبنا في موقع أفضل».

وأضاف: «وانطلاقًا من قناعتي بأن المسؤولية تقتضي إتاحة الفرصة لمرحلة جديدة، فقد قررت عدم الاستمرار حتى نهاية الدورة الحالية، وسندعو -وفقًا للإجراءات واللوائح النظامية- إلى البدء في إجراءات فتح باب الترشح لانتخابات مجلس إدارة جديد».

واختتم المسحل بيانه بالتأكيد على استمراره في خدمة الوطن، بقوله: «أغادر المنصب، لكنني سأبقى -بإذن الله- جنديًا مخلصًا في خدمة وطني وقيادته الرشيدة، وسأظل داعمًا لكل ما يسهم في رفعة الرياضة السعودية ونجاحها».

وتأتي هذه الخطوة إيذانًا ببدء مرحلة انتقالية داخل الاتحاد السعودي لكرة القدم، تمهيدًا لانتخاب مجلس إدارة جديد يقود المرحلة القادمة، وفق الإجراءات والضوابط النظامية المعتمدة.

The President of Al-Ahli Club and former Secretary-General of the Saudi Football Federation, Abdulilah Mo'menah, confirmed to "Okaz" that the resignation of the President of the Saudi Football Federation, Yasser Al-Mashel, requires following the legal procedures stipulated in the federation's bylaws, noting that the acceptance of the resignation is done through a General Assembly meeting.

Mo'menah explained to "Okaz" that the transitional phase after the resignation is managed according to the provisions of the Saudi Football Federation's bylaws, where the Vice President of the federation or the Secretary-General is temporarily tasked with managing the federation's affairs until the legal procedures are completed.

He added that the General Assembly is called to hold a meeting during which the resignation will be considered, alongside determining the date for the upcoming elections and opening the nomination for the presidency of the Saudi Football Federation's Board of Directors and its membership, ensuring the continuity of institutional work according to the approved regulations.

Yasser Al-Mashel, the President of the Saudi Football Federation, announced that he would not continue in the presidency until the end of the current term, following the exit of the Saudi national team from the group stage of the 2026 World Cup, affirming that he takes full responsibility for the result, which did not meet the expectations of Saudi fans.

Al-Mashel said in a statement: "My colleagues and I on the Board of Directors have done everything we can to serve Saudi football, and we have sincerely sought to achieve the aspirations of our nation and our fans. However, the failure of our national team to qualify for the next round in the World Cup is a result that does not meet all our ambitions, and I take full responsibility for it, and I apologize to everyone who hoped to see our team in a better position."

He added: "Based on my conviction that responsibility requires providing an opportunity for a new phase, I have decided not to continue until the end of the current term, and we will call - in accordance with the legal procedures and regulations - to start the process of opening nominations for a new Board of Directors election."

Al-Mashel concluded his statement by affirming his continued service to the nation, saying: "I am leaving the position, but I will remain - God willing - a loyal soldier in the service of my country and its wise leadership, and I will continue to support everything that contributes to the advancement and success of Saudi sports."

This step marks the beginning of a transitional phase within the Saudi Football Federation, paving the way for the election of a new Board of Directors to lead the upcoming phase, in accordance with the approved legal procedures and regulations.
