أعرب الاتحاد الأردني لكرة القدم عن استيائه الشديد من سلسلة العقبات التي واجهها خلال المشاركة التاريخية الأولى للنشامى في نهائيات كأس العالم.
وأكد الاتحاد أنه كهيئة تمثّل دولة صغيرة بميزانية محدودة، واجه تحديات كبيرة بدءاً من رفض منح تأشيرات الدخول لعدد من المشجعين الأردنيين الذين امتلكوا تذاكر المباريات التي بيعت بأسعار باهظة، مروراً بفرض ضرائب أمريكية عبر الفيفا على مستحقات المشاركة، وهو ما لم تتعرض له المنتخبات التي لعبت في كندا والمكسيك.
وأضاف البيان أن الاتحاد ما زال ينتظر منذ شهر ديسمبر الماضي مستحقات مكافآت اللاعبين عن وصولهم لنهائي كأس العرب في قطر، وهي بطولة ينظمها الفيفا، في وقت يتحدث فيه الاتحاد الدولي عن امتلاكه احتياطيات مالية بمليارات الدولارات.
واختتم الاتحاد بيانه بتأكيد تمسكه بالقيم الأخلاقية، رافضاً بشكل قاطع أي محاولات لربط تقديم الدعم بتأييد شخصيات معينة داخل الفيفا، واصفاً ذلك بأنه «ابتزاز» يرفضه الاتحاد الأردني جملةً وتفصيلاً.
The Jordanian Football Association expressed its deep dissatisfaction with the series of obstacles it faced during the historic first participation of the national team in the World Cup finals.
The association confirmed that, as an entity representing a small country with a limited budget, it faced significant challenges starting from the refusal to grant entry visas to a number of Jordanian fans who held tickets for matches that were sold at exorbitant prices, to the imposition of American taxes through FIFA on participation dues, which was not faced by the teams that played in Canada and Mexico.
The statement added that the association has been waiting since last December for the players' bonus dues for reaching the Arab Cup final in Qatar, a tournament organized by FIFA, at a time when the international federation speaks of having financial reserves in the billions of dollars.
The association concluded its statement by reaffirming its commitment to ethical values, firmly rejecting any attempts to link the provision of support to the endorsement of certain individuals within FIFA, describing it as "extortion" that the Jordanian association categorically rejects.
