من مقولات دوستوفيسكي؛ «هنالك أمر واحد أخشاه: وهو ألّا أكون جديراً بمعاناتي».
إذا يظل الإنسان أسيراً لعاداته سواء كانت تلك العادات حسنة أو سيئة ودائماً ما تكون تلك العادات هي من يتحكّم في سلوكه وحياته ونتاجه أيضاً.
حينما نتحدث عن دوستوفيسكي فهذا يعني أننا نتناول شخصية الكاتب الأكثر عمقاً بين كل كتّاب السرد عبر التاريخ وأحد أكثر الكتّاب نتاجاً بين كل كتّاب الرواية والقصة في العالم.
مات عن ستين عاماً من الحياة المكثفة والتي كان نتاجها أكثر من أربعين عملاً بين رواية وقصة وترجمات والكثير من المقالات بمعدل لا يقل عن عمل في العام الواحد.
لم يكن مجرد كاتب صاحب استمرارية مذهلة بل الأكثر قدرة على الإبداع والإمتاع.
كان مدمناً على القمار بطريقة غريبة تكمن غرابتها في أنها كانت أحد أهم الأسباب التي منحت قراء العالم أعمالاً خالدة منحت صاحبها حق التواجد المستمر في قائمة الكتب الأكثر قراءة حول العالم.
سأروي لكم حكاية تبيّن القدرة العجيبة لهذا الكاتب الاستثنائي لتحويل المعاناة إلى محفز عظيم لتحدي الوقت والظروف.
كان دوستوفيسكي مدمناً للقمار للحد الذي أسقطه في معاناة الديون والفقر برغم أنه كان يتقاضى أجراً مرتفعاً مقابل أعماله، حتى وصل به الحال في الفترة التي كان يكتب فيها عمله الخالد الجريمة والعقاب إلى عقد اتفاق شبه مستحيل لكتابة عمل خلال أقل من شهر أو أن ستيلوفيسكي (الناشر) سيحصل على حق نشر أعمال دوستوفيسكي لمدة تسع سنوات، دون أي تعويض للكاتب!.. وتلك المدة القصيرة هي شبه مستحيلة لأي كاتب لعدة أسباب أهمها أن الكتابة حالة إلهام لا يمكن أن تخضع لعامل الوقت ولا يمكن ضمان حدوثها في ذلك الوقت المحدد!
قرر دوستوفيسكي أن يستعين بمعاناته مع القمار ويجعلها موضوع الكتابة فليس هناك ما يمكن أن يكون حاضراً في ذهن الكاتب دون عناء إلا حياته ومعاناته وآلامه ومخاوفه!
بدأ دوستوفيسكي الكتابة في اليوم الأول والثاني والثالث بسلاسة متناهية لكن المتاعب بدأت معه في اليوم الرابع وأصبحت قدرته على الكتابة تنخفض شيئاً فشيئاً حتى عجز عن الكتابة سواء بسبب البرد الذي أفقده القدرة على الإمساك بالقلم أو الحالة الذهنية التي لم تتأقلم مع حالته المعيشية!
قرر وضع إعلان يطلب فيه المساعدة لتوفير مساعد يقوم بالكتابة بينما دوستوفيسكي يملي عليه النص المراد كتابته!
طرقت عليه الباب شابة حسناء اسمها آنا غريغورفنا، التي تقدمت لتلك المهمة، وكانت الوصية التي تلقتها أنك ستعملين مع كاتب عبقري لكنه شخص وقح، فتح الباب وبعد أن عرّفت بنفسها دخل إلى منزله، وما إن دخلت حتى شاهدت أكواماً من الكتب والأوراق التي ملأت المكان داخل ذلك المنزل الذي يسكنه، كانت معجبة به ككاتب لكن كإنسان كانت التحذيرات تسكنها..
فتح الباب وأشار عليها بالجلوس والبدء في الكتابة، كان يمليها العمل وكأنه يقرأ من كتاب.
في الصباح كان يكتب عمله الخالد المقامر وفي المساء كان يكتب العمل العبقري الجريمة والعقاب وكأنه يعيش بشخصيتين وعقلين مختلفين..
في اليوم المتفق عليه ذهب لتسليم العمل لكن الناشر تهرب منه على أمل أن لا يتحقق المتفق عليه، لكن دوستوفيسكي ذهب إلى قسم الشرطة وسلم العمل هناك بمحضر رسمي.
بعد ذلك عاد إلى المنزل وعرض على كاتبته الجميلة آنا الزواج..
بعد مدة قصيرة عادت معاناة دوستوفيسكي مع القمار لتقحمه في الديون مرة أخرى..
تولت آنا أموره المالية وأعادت ترتيب حياته وأدارت نشر وتوزيع كتبه بنفسها حتى أصبحت أول سيدة أعمال روسية..
تلك الفتاة العشرينية أعادت ترتيب حياة الكاتب الكبير وعاشت معه قصة حب خلّدتها لاحقاً في مذكراتها.
أما دوستوفيسكي فكان يكتب ليعيش، وهذا الشيء غير الجميل في ظاهره أثمر أعمالاً خالدة وسجل اسم كاتبها كأحد أعظم كتّاب الرواية بل وأعظمهم على الإطلاق.
One of Dostoevsky's sayings is: "There is one thing I fear: that I will not be worthy of my suffering."
Thus, a person remains a prisoner of their habits, whether those habits are good or bad, and it is always those habits that control their behavior, life, and output as well.
When we talk about Dostoevsky, we mean we are discussing the most profound writer among all narrative authors throughout history and one of the most prolific writers among all novelists and storytellers in the world.
He died after sixty years of intense life, which produced more than forty works, including novels, stories, translations, and many articles, averaging no less than one work per year.
He was not just a writer with an astonishing continuity but also the most capable of creativity and enjoyment.
He was strangely addicted to gambling, and the peculiarity of this addiction lies in the fact that it was one of the main reasons that granted readers around the world timeless works, allowing their author to maintain a continuous presence on the list of the most read books worldwide.
I will tell you a story that illustrates the extraordinary ability of this exceptional writer to transform suffering into a great motivator to challenge time and circumstances.
Dostoevsky was so addicted to gambling that it led him into the suffering of debt and poverty, even though he was earning a high salary for his works. At one point, while writing his timeless work "Crime and Punishment," he reached an almost impossible agreement to write a work in less than a month, or else Stieglitz (the publisher) would gain the rights to publish Dostoevsky's works for nine years, without any compensation for the writer! This short period is nearly impossible for any writer for several reasons, the most important being that writing is a state of inspiration that cannot be subjected to time constraints and cannot be guaranteed to occur within that specified time!
Dostoevsky decided to draw upon his suffering with gambling and make it the subject of his writing, for there is nothing that can be present in a writer's mind without effort except for their life, suffering, pains, and fears!
Dostoevsky began writing on the first, second, and third days with extreme smoothness, but troubles began on the fourth day, and his ability to write gradually diminished until he was unable to write, either due to the cold that made it hard for him to hold the pen or the mental state that did not adapt to his living conditions!
He decided to place an ad seeking assistance to find someone to write while Dostoevsky dictated the text to be written!
A beautiful young woman named Anna Grigorievna knocked on his door, volunteering for this task. The warning she received was that she would be working with a genius writer, but he was a rude person. He opened the door, and after she introduced herself, she entered his home. Once inside, she saw piles of books and papers that filled the space of the home he lived in. She admired him as a writer, but as a person, the warnings lingered in her mind...
He opened the door and gestured for her to sit and start writing; he dictated the work to her as if he were reading from a book.
In the morning, he was writing his timeless work "The Gambler," and in the evening, he was writing the genius work "Crime and Punishment," as if he were living with two different personalities and minds...
On the agreed-upon day, he went to deliver the work, but the publisher evaded him, hoping that the agreement would not be fulfilled. However, Dostoevsky went to the police station and submitted the work there with an official report.
After that, he returned home and proposed to his beautiful writer Anna...
After a short time, Dostoevsky's suffering with gambling returned, plunging him into debt once again...
Anna took over his financial matters, reorganized his life, and managed the publishing and distribution of his books herself, becoming the first Russian businesswoman.
This twenty-something girl reorganized the life of the great writer and lived with him a love story that she later immortalized in her memoirs.
As for Dostoevsky, he wrote to live, and this seemingly unappealing aspect resulted in timeless works and established the name of their author as one of the greatest novelists, indeed the greatest of all time.
